In my role as Product Development Manager at TheMix Shop, I spearheaded the development of a groundbreaking new product that would redefine home cooking – the Ovana Portable Pizza Oven. At the time, most Pizza Ovens got up to 250°C, when developing the Ovana the aim was to achieve a Neapolitan-style high-heat environment of over 500°C

Designing the Ovana

The development of the Ovana Portable Pizza Oven was a meticulous process that involved detailed market research to understand customer preferences and identify gaps in the market. My team and I collaborated closely with top manufacturers to ensure adherence to high-quality product standards and a seamless supply chain.

Innovation and Compliance

One of the significant challenges was incorporating sophisticated design features while still meeting the stringent Australian Gas Association [AGA] safety certification requirements. This achievement led to the creation of a standout product, aligning with our commitment to deliver innovative, reliable, and high-quality kitchenware products.

Successful Product Launch

Our efforts culminated in a successful product launch that generated $2.3 million in sales from 4,250 units in the first year. This success was a testament to the rigorous quality control processes that I instituted, and the strategic partnerships we formed with Johnny Di Francesco, a recognised World Pizza Champion.

The Ovana Portable Pizza Oven not only surpassed International and Australian standards but also reinforced TheMix Shop's reputation for producing reliable, high-quality kitchenware. By developing products that consistently met regulatory certifications, we elevated our brand reputation and ensured customer satisfaction.
